Job Title:AppleCare Global Commodity Manager - Enclosure Internship

Description

AppleCare Enclosure GCM team is responsible for managing cost and continuity of supply for all enclosure parts for all Apple products from NPI to end of service which is typically seven years after end of production.
Enclosure is a unique commodity in Apple due to the ID and custom nature of the parts. We have very strict requirements.
Part of Apple's core business is the creation and development of our world-class mechanical / industrial designs and as such, the management of the supply chains is required to be equally unique, innovative and specialized.
Individuals in this group support the following:
• Supply chain management: negotiation and management of existing Apple mechanical suppliers.
• Cost: development, negotiation and execution of a part and assembly cost strategy. An understanding of mechanical manufacturing techniques is important to better evaluate supplier capabilities and opportunities for Apple.
• Cross-functional support: with Apple’s GSMs, SQEs, Materials, and operations teams.
• Build Support: on site management of mechanical enclosure manufacturing partners to manage the service builds and risk mitigation.
• On time delivery: schedule, capacity and supply planning to meet Apple’s service demand.
• Risk Mitigation: evaluation of supplier and business risks using data based analysis and developing sound risk mitigation alternatives.
• Program Management: the ability to manage all of the above tasks and personnel resources.

Requirements

• Excellent communication skill in both Chinese and English. Ability to work in multinational environments, driven and motivated by accomplishing world-class objectives.
• Knowledge of any of following will be preferred: Mechanical subassemblies, enclosures, casings, plastics, grinding, stamping, CNC, mills, lathes, etc.
• Understand costing concepts, cost reduction, modeling, etc.
• Prefer Mechanical engineering, Production engineering, business background.
• At least 8 weeks full-time commitment to the internship and additional 10 wks part time internship.
Intern duration can be flexible.
